Project Proposal

I have chosen to design a collaborative space for designers for the creative project. As a Spatial Design student, I understand the need for space when creating and designing. Often there are many individuals involved in the design process and production. There are also many stages including; brainstorming, ideation, questioning, constructing, testing and presenting, with this requires many different stations to accommodate for all needs. The space will be available to a range of designers including; spatial, interior, graphic, fashion and animation to name a few.

This space will be perfect for meetings before, during and after the design period. It will be a space big enough for 10 individuals to comfortably work with one another inside. The space will be of a modern industrial design and finish.

To develop and produce my creative project I will use Stanford’s Design Thinking process (Stanford, 2019). This process is a methodology for creative problem solving working through five stages; empathise, define, ideate, prototype and test. Within the empathise stage I will research existing workspaces of my target audience and users of the space. To define the project I will learn and understand the problem areas in which need to be targeted and focused on to assure the designer’s have all they require or will benefit from within the space. When ideating I will take risks to explore a range of possibilities. During the prototyping stage I will develop a range of designs, assessing different layouts, spatial sizes,  shapes, fittings and furnishings. Finally in the testing stage I will put forward my designs to designers and professionals.  I will gather their feedback to select the perfect design or if needed go back through the stages to redevelop and perfect.
